Becoming a Member

In order to receive electric service from Jackson Electric, you must first become a member of the cooperative. The process is simple:

  1. Fill out a membership application., available from our office.
  2. Pay a $150 security deposit. This will be returned after two years of "on-time" bill payments. The security deposit will be waived if you supply a favorable credit reference from your previous electric utility, or a favorable credit report from a credit bureau.

Existing Electric Services
You may transfer an existing electric service account into your name after joining the cooperative. Simply provide:

  1. Meter ID number, located on the face of the electric meter.
  2. Meter reading taken on the day of the transfer.
  3. The date of the service transfer.

New Construction Line Extensions

If you need a line extension to provide electric service to a new site, please stop at the office to make application for a new service.

Wisconsin State law requires all new one or two family dwellings to pass a Wisconsin Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) inspection.  This law prohibits Jackson Electric Cooperative from energizing a service or setting a meter until the electrical portion of the inspection is completed and the inspection stamp or seal is in place.  It is the responsibility of the homeowner, or his or her contractor, to schedule an inspection and to contact Jackson Electric after the dwelling has passed the inspection process.

Line Extension Fees

Fees for line extensions are adjusted periodically to reflect the true cost of construction.  Please contact jackson Electric for current fees.

Line extension fees for housing developments, commercial and industrial sites, and other special needs of members, will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
