Our Mascot

He's been with us for years. As the symbol of the rural electrification movement, Willie Wiredhand dates back to 1950. Throughout the years, he has portrayed rural electric service as the farmer's hired hand — a "wired hand." It was through Willie Wiredhand that the nation's rural electric cooperatives built a common identification, along with common goals.

In recent years, new symbols have been produced for rural electric cooperatives. They acknowledge that rural electrics, like Jackson Electric Cooperative, have moved into a new era of service for their members.

While your Jackson Electric Cooperative is keeping up with the changing times, we are still quite fond of our faithful old friend, Willie. He stuck with us through trying times, as well as good. He'll remain an esteemed member of our cooperative family.
