Scope of Operation

Delivering Energy Services

Jackson Electric Cooperative purchases wholesale electric energy from Dairyland Power Cooperative, based in La Crosse, WI. Dairyland Power Cooperative (DPC) is a generation and transmission cooperative (G & T) jointly owned by Jackson Electric Cooperative and 24 similar electric distribution cooperatives, which in turn, supply the electrical needs of more than half a million people in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Michigan and Illinois.

Electric power reaches the nine substations serving Jackson Electric's service territory via high voltage transmission lines. At the substations, voltage levels are reduced to 7,200 volts, which is suitable for the 1,384 miles of electric distribution lines that are owned, operated and maintained by Jackson Electric Cooperative.
