If your account is delinquent, Jackson Electric Cooperative will send to you a notice at least 10 days before electric service disconnection. If you do not reconcile your account after you receive the written electric service disconnect notice, you may receive a telephone call stating that your account is past due. This will be your final electric service disconnect notice. You will be subject to pay all electric charges and fees associated with the disconnection policy.
If you have questions about your bill or have been notified of an electric service disconnect, call us as soon as possible to discuss your situation. Depending on your account history, special payment arrangements may be available to you.
Please refer to the Service Disconnect Information sheet to review the fees and charges that may be applied to your account for non-payment of electric service.
Load Interrupting Devices (LIDS)
Through November 1 to April 15, Jackson Electric Cooperative is able to utilize load interrupting devices to those members who are delinquent with their electric bill payments. LIDS are installed to allow the member with 30 minutes of electricity usage, then 30 minutes with no usage. That continues 24 hours per day until the electric bill has been reconciled.
Jackson Electric Cooperative is not governed by the rules and regulations established by the Public Service Commission; therefore, service disconnection is optional for the cooperative. Jackson Electric Cooperative chooses to utilize the load interrupting devices rather than a complete service disconnection during the months of November through April.
