Air-to-Air Heat Pump
Lose your cool over air conditioning bills? Never again! Once you've relaxed in central air conditioning, sweltering summer days just aren't the same they're enjoyable! Many people have the mistaken idea that central air conditioning is a luxury beyond their reach. Advanced air-to-air heat pump technology, coupled with our rebate program and special low electric rate, makes central air conditioning affordable. If this already sounds good, wait because you've only heard half of the story! Invest once, gain twice It takes only one piece of equipment an air-to-air heat pump to deliver both energy-efficient central air conditioning and home heating. During the summer, the heat pump removes heat trapped inside the home and dispels it outdoors, just like an ordinary air conditioner. But during the heating months, the cycle is reversed. Heat is captured from the outside air and transferred into the home.
Is this magic?
Remember, everything above absolute zero has heat in it, even though it may feel cold to us. The trick is to remove a specific amount of degrees from the substance, in this case outside air, and add them to the interior air temperature. This works because a degree of heat is a unit of measurement. It has the same incremental value whether it is between 29 F and 30 F, or between 69 F and 70 F. Installation An air-to-air heat pump looks and installs exactly like a central air conditioner. It will provide all of your cooling and all of your heating at ambient temperatures above 30 degrees. This will be about 42% of your annual heating requirements. Rebates and Special Rates Air-to-air heat pumps are rebated at $60 per ton, provided the heat pump has a SEER rating of 14 or higher. The capacity of heat pump needed to maintain comfort in your home depends on the structure's size, location, insulation value, and similar factors. They are ideal for retrofitting into existing homes that already have ductwork for a forced air heating system. One ton of refrigeration equals 12,000 BTU. Most homes require a 2.5-ton to 3.5-ton heat pump. Because the air-to-air heat pump is operated on a dual fuel electrical rate, your heating and cooling costs will be much lower than to operate the alternative combination of an L.P. furnace and central air conditioner. Jackson Electric's heat pump rebate covers much of the additional cost of stepping up from a central air conditioner to a heat pump. The electric consumption of your air-to-air heat pump, placed on a meter separate from your household electrical use, will be billed at a bargain rate 4.5 cents per kWh from November 1 to April 30, and 5.5 cents per kWh from May 1 to October 31. There is a $2.75/month facility charge for the second meter. For details about the program conditions and specifications, please contact our office.
