Electric Thermal Storage (ETS)
Looking for a warm way to save some cold cash? Then consider the benefits of Electric Thermal Storage, or ETS, home heating. As central forced air heating systems or individual room units, ETS units are exclusively electric. There is no need for ductwork or a back-up heat source. ETS units heat electrically, storing heat in dense ceramic bricks. As the household thermostat calls for heat, air is circulated around the bricks and out into your living area, providing clean, quiet and comfortable heat. This ETS equipment is eligible for one-third cost sharing from Jackson Electric Cooperative. You'll pay only two-thirds of the equipment cost and reap all the benefits. This includes our off-peak heating rate. To qualify for the special rate and equipment cost sharing, the ETS unit(s) must be wired so that the cooperative can switch off the charging elements, each day, during specified control times. The control is done via a radio receiver mounted near your meter assembly. All ETS systems will receive an 8-hour recharge period at night and a 2-hour recharge period during the day. With a correctly sized ETS heating system, you will be unaware of the control periods and there is no need for a back-up heating source in the home. The energy charge under this special rate is as follows:
A central ETS system coupled with an air-to-air heat pump offers an excellent high efficiency, total comfort, heating and cooling design. For more details on these programs, or an evaluation of ETS options appropriate to your home, call the energy professionals at Jackson Electric Cooperative.
