Geothermal Heat Pump
Heat from the earth! Amazing and efficient, the choice of a geothermal heat pump is especially ideal for incorporating into your new home construction plans. A geothermal heat pump uses a small amount of energy to "capture" and move a large amount of heat energy. In a closed-loop system, the heat pump extracts latent heat energy stored in the earth and transfers it to a fluid circulating in plastic pipe buried in the ground. In an open system, the heat energy is removed from water pumped from a well and discharged in an environmentally acceptable manner. The stored energy is harnessed by using a heat exchanger and compressor. The process provides both home heating and cooling, depending on unit's cycle. Because geothermal systems use mostly stored heat energy from the earth, they provide three to four units of energy output for each unit used to power the system. Imagine, that's $3-$4 worth of heat for each dollar spent in operating costs! Couple that with our special off-peak heating rate and you'll enjoy unbelievably low energy bills! A geothermal heat pump can provide all of your heating and cooling, except during a dual fuel control period. Jackson Electric Cooperative promotes energy efficiency.
