Outdoor Lighting

An investment in outdoor lighting adds value to a home, farmstead or business.

A well illuminated home provides:

Safety - Reduce accidents and personal injury when walking or working after dark. Lessen the chance of property damage when moving vehicles or machinery.
Security - Discourage prowlers and deter vandalism. Motion-activated fixtures startle trespassers and direct a bright, concentrated light. Such lighting fixtures also add convenience in opening doors, maneuvering equipment through gates and checking around the property. The "automatic off" feature also saves money.
Productivity - Extend the workday beyond sundown.
Aesthetic appeal - Effective outdoor lighting enhances the visual appeal and impact of your property. Business and industry benefits from increased visibility, even after the close of business hours. A variety of fixture styles are available.

Outdoor lighting systems require the correct matching of fixture to need. Illumination of parking areas will require different lighting than walkways to entrance doors. Use decorative yard lights to attractively illuminate walkways. Many fixtures may be fitted with compact fluorescent bulbs that are suitable for outdoor temperatures, to save energy and reduce the number of bulb change-outs. High-pressure sodium fixtures are typically used to illuminate large areas of parking lots, around building perimeters and fuel storage facilities. Jackson Electric offers a rental program for high-pressure sodium and mercury vapor security lighting.

Area lighting is available to cooperative members for unmetered area lighting.
