A Word About Power Quality
One of Jackson Electric Cooperative's main focuses in on power quality. Through use of voltage regulators and transformers, along with aggressive right-of-way maintenance, we have made a commitment to do our best in maintaining electric voltages within reasonable tolerances. However, some electronics demand even more restrictive tolerances than what can be provided by electric distribution line equipment. For these applications, we strongly recommend the owner install surge protection or a UPS system. Some equipment may also need to be put on a dedicated electric circuit.
Household wiring generally lacks the site-wide surge protection and number of circuit breakers that is typical in a corporate setting. Therefore, even some common household appliances, such as hair dryers, vacuums, microwave ovens and blenders, can cause major disruptions for computers and other sensitive electronics. Modems, faxes, phone and data lines represent a "backdoor" opportunity for surges and spikes to enter your equipment.
